In my painting practice, I believe that everything instinctively follows one path and should not be interfered with or altered. In other words, if you go with the flow the images will come easily and effortlessly. If you disrupt the flow the images will come with resistance and friction. This demo will demonstrate how this philosophy can open up new possibilities through experimentation. Techniques – Collage- assemblage of different materials (paper, found objects etc.) Frottage-rubbing over great textured surface. Grattage- scraping dry paint, ripping paper

I spilled some Indian ink and got a butterfly.

“ Kites rise highest against the wind-not with it.” – Winston Churchill
A kite with no wind remains motionless. It is in the resistance of the wind where it reaches its highest peak. Like the kite we have an opportunity to rise with the wind.

There is something very strange with an empty canvas. Its artificiality, perfect corners and flat textureless surface feels lifeless, like a book with no words. It stares at me and asks “show me your life”. How do I show you the parts of what I am and what I’m not when I see nothingness stare back at me. Then the canvas says, “close your eyes and paint”. So, I closed my eyes and began to paint.
Do you remember when you were a child and you saw a cardboard box as more than just a box? A cardboard box could be a fortress, a rocket ship, time machine, air plane, or submarines. The possibilities were endless. Yet, when we become adults that box no longer transforms, it just a cardboard box. Picasso, had famously quoted, “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up”. Maybe, its not that we have to try to remain as an artist but simply a matter of re-remember what we’ve forgotten.
